Cross Country 12th April 2005

Several months of planning, marking out courses and committed training have culminated in the College's annual Cross-Country on Tuesday 12th April. Students participated with great enthusiasm as houses / campuses Flinders, Duyfken, Evans, Mapoon, Napranum and Aurukun competed for team honours. This year we also had a team from Lockhart River State School join us for some Cross Country practice. Well done to the students from Lockhart who ran very well and should be proud of their efforts.
There were many mighty performances and all who took part were winners, but at the end of the day the major trophy winners were:

  • Overall Winner Trophy: Duyfken
  • Inter Team Points Trophy: Duyfken
  • Best House Spirit Trophy: Flinders

A big thankyou to Jeff Lewis and Town Office, Weipa Police, Comalco Emergency Services for bringing out the fire truck, Jackie, Ross, Carol and DJ for all the extra hours and hard work they put in to make the Cross Country happen.
Thank you also to the fabulous staff at WCC who stood in the sun, handed out water, timed, cheered, and recorded; your efforts are much appreciated and without you
the event would not have happened.
Well done to all who ran. Staff were really impressed with the high rates of participation. A special congratulations to the individual race winners and place getters who will have the opportunity to represent the College at Peninsula titles in Cairns later in the term. Details will be forthcoming.
