Michele Elms - Head of Business & Finance Personal I commenced in the role of Head of Business and Finance in July 2004 after relocating to Weipa from Townsville with my husband Brett, and daughters Brianna & Mackenzie. Previously, I worked for 11 years with Queensland Transport in various positions starting as a Customer Service Trainee in 1993 through to the Business Area Manager for four Customer Service Centres. I am thoroughly enjoying the challenges this position presents, and look forward to working with Western Cape College for many years to come. RoleThe Head of Business & Finance is a member of the Western Cape College Executive Management team and provides strategic, systematic and technical corporate services advice, as well as leads the development and delivery of corporate services which support the educational management activities of a school. Specifically, this position is accountable for: - - Developing, implementing, and managing the College finance
- Management of College assets
- Management of College capital works, including planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Acquittal of Commonwealth Government grants and self funded projects.
Current FocusAside from the daily accountabilities above, my focus for Term 2 is the implementation of a College administration cell, which is separate from the Weipa administration team. The College administration cell will focus on supporting College activities and the administration requirements of the Aurukun, Mapoon, and Napranum Campuses. Tasks to be completed as part of this process include the development and implementation of clear and concise role descriptions, accountabilities, and achievable goals for all members of the Business and Finance team. My other major focus for this term is the preparation of a business case to explore the viability of Western Cape College becoming a financial processing hub for Kowanyama State School. |
