CONFIDENCE

Confidence is one of the Four Foundations in the program ' You Can Do It!'

Confidence means knowing that you will likely be successful at many things you study. It means not being afraid to make mistakes or try something new. Positive Habits of the Mind (HOMs) that help develop student cofidence include:

  • Accepting Myself - not thinking badly about myself when I make a mistake.
  • Taking Risks - thinking that it's good to try something new even though I might not be able to do it.
  • Being Independent - thinking that it's important to try new activities and to speak up even if my classmates think I'm silly or stupid.

Listed below are a number of resources related to the various Habits of the Mind.  Resources we have in The Western Cape College Resource Centre include reference details. Other resources  related to Confidence are included and may be accessed through The Hibberd Library, AccessEd, bookshops etc.
