The Western Cape College was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Anna Bligh, at midday on Tuesday 16 July, 2002.
Leaders from Education Queensland and Comalco arrived in town for the occasion, which celebrated the achievements so far and the paving of the way towards a better future for all students of Western Cape through improved educational opportunities and outcomes.
The Western Cape College is an example to other areas in Queensland, Australia and the World on how school campuses which are geographically separate can work together for the betterment of students.
