HISTORICAL AND SOCIAL ASPECTS OF CRAFT

Students will explore craft as a personal, social and cultural endeavour. They will prepare and run a stall that showcases a chosen craft and an object or object d'art that they have made as an example of that craft.

   Due to availability I chose the medium - paper - and we brainstormed all crafts that use paper. Then we chose origami to start with and learnt how to make the boat.

   Researched the history of origami as a whole class and wrote information in list form. http://va.essortment.com/origamihistory_rdta.htm I read and they listened for the correct information. i.e Where from: When: Why: and Interesting info. All info went into language books first in note form then into craft books in sentences next to samples of a boat and a crane.

   Researched the history paper making at http://www.ibfsrp.com/paper_history.html . Made paper as whole class 2 children being the experts and teaching the rest of the group. Info went into crsft book next to paper sample. Procedure written in also.
