Policy Environment

Western Cape College operates within a policy environment which influences its operations and directions. The College was established as part of a broader reform agenda to improve the outcomes for Indigenous Students. Western Cape College has taken an active role in the implementation and development of the education and social policies driving reform in Indigenous communities and schools.

The College has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence as part of the Partners for Success initiative.

Western Cape College has taken an active role in the implementation of the Strategic Plan QSE 2010 and ETRF agenda.

Nationally, the Welfare Reform agenda will impact each of our communities and College operations will be impacted by these reforms. The From Hand Out to Hand Up paper produced by the Cape York Institute highlights the immediate impact of these reforms.

This commitment to meeting systemic requirements and driving reform to realise improved life outcomes for its students has made the College a leading force within the Torres Strait and Cape region.
