The performance told a story about our individual beginnings and aimed to highlight our collective future. We recognised the different backgrounds that all Australians have come from and the journey they have made, seeking to celebrate key aspects of that; our Islander and Aboriginal Heritages and our non-Indigenous heritages.
Our message was that through acceptance and tolerance of each other our future is bright: fulfilling, exciting and rich with opportunity.
The opening scene set the mood as the audience watched the Mapoon created Awakening, and it continued through the Old Fashioned European dance, the students own choreography in the Islander dance and Aurukuns eagle inspired celebration.
The finale was filled with life and colour as students from all three campuses finished the Croc Festival Performance nights with energy and excitement. As the students ran off the stage, it was obvious what a rewarding experience it had been.
There are so many people to thank and a lot of people who can take pride in the knowledge that they contributed to the resounding success of Western Cape Colleges amazing performance.
