Western Cape College needs committed parents, guardians and carers to support and participate in our Parents and Citizens Association.

This is your opportunity to mind your Child�s Business.

We know the Business of your Child�s Education is top priority to you! us! and them!

Be a player and become an active member in the strategic and operating planning of your College and Ours.   

Help support the College by improving and increasing resources for the benefit of your child, eg shady areas are at premium, the P&C have identified this need and with everyone�s help this can be a great accomplishment.

JOIN THE WCC -WEIPA CAMPUS P&C

Two ways:

  • Simply fill out the membership form and come along to the Annual General Meeting in the staffroom on the western side of the Weipa Campus or alternatively post your form to the Secretary WCC-WC P&C, PO Box 185 , Weipa Q 4874 before the AGM. 
    (Forms also available at the office) 
  • If you miss the AGM you need to come to a monthly meeting and fill out an application form.   Application for new membership is taken at the end of the monthly meetings.

Meeting dates are advertised in the College Newsletter, and on the Noticeboard in front of the College and in the locked notice board outside the WCC college office opposite the assembly area Western Side. 

Copies of the recent monthly meeting minutes and the next agenda can be read in the locked noticeboard outside the College Office on the Western side.

Parents and Citizens Association

  WHAT DOES THE P&C ASSOCIATION DO?????

The objectives of the Association are to promote the interest, and facilitate the development and further improvement of the Weipa Campus Western Cape College (�the Campus�)

In pursuit of the Association�s objectives, the functions of the Association are:

  • to foster general community interest in educational matters 
  • to endeavour to bring about closer cooperation between the parents of students attending the College, other members of the community and the staff and students of the College campus
  • to provide advice and recommendations to the Head of Campus on issues and concerns in respect of students and the general operation and management of the College
  • to provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the college
  • to participate in any committee or other body comprising members of the College and wider community, which will contribute to the general benefit of students attending the college
  • to assist a State Preschool Centre and a Special Education Unit of the College (if these exist at the Campus)
  • to perform any other functions as the Minister may determine

There are 1300 P & C�S in Queensland and all work under a Model Constitution.

Each P & C can access help from their Regional P &C and then QCPCA at State Level.

All Audited Financial Reports and AGM minutes are sent to the Director General in Education Qld.

P&C�s are answerable to the Minister of Education.

Over recent times Weipa Campus P &C has been responsible for adding to the development of Weipa Campus   in excess of $500 000.  

This includes:

  • the purchases of computers for primary school lab (50 000)
  • primary school assembly area (50 0000)
  • air-conditioning (250 000)
  • shade-active track (15 000)
  • gardens / plants (25 000)
  • irrigation maintenance (10 000)
  • tuckshop upgrades, cold room, salad bar, and safety approved tuckshop floor (25 000)
  • basketball re - surfacing, (30 000)
  • drainage primary school (22 000)
  • play equipment (preschool) (6 500)
  • shed (60 000)
  • P&C Ute (2 000)
  • Shade Project over garden area western side campus approx $26 0000
  • supporting sport reps, under 8�s day, Tournament of minds, excursions, uniforms, resource books, Ute Rego and more.

Let�s do some more������.

  • Projects in progress include shade over the tiger turf area � (a funding submission has been sent)
  • 5 Shade umbrellas to be built into the landscaping on the eastern side
  • 10 new tables and seat have been ordered and await delivery (seat approx 80)

Coordinator � Shannon Robertson School Nurse � Contact School.  This group is aware of Government Legislation and focus on Healthy Tuckshop Menu.   Please do not hesitate to come along and join this group.  Contact Shannon 4090 6444. 


Napranum Transition Sub- Committee 2006:

The reason behind the formation of this group is to allow the transition of the Napranum P & C to gently assimilate into the Weipa Campus P & C. Key people to contact if you are interested in being part of this group are Karen Maza and Lynette Koina.   Leave a message at the College with the administration for the P & C mail box or alternatively you can catch Karen at Centre link Office.
